Nomura Names Benson Risk Vice Chairman

Nomura Holdings named David Benson vice chairman for risk and regulatory affairs.

In this new role, Benson will frame Nomura's regulatory and government agenda. He will also be responsible for providing senior management with strategic advice on risk management strategy, focusing on regulatory and legislative developments.

Nomura announced the appointment Tuesday.

Benson has been Nomura's chief risk officer since November 2008. He has spent more than11 years with Nomura in a range of roles including European chief operating officer. Benson will remain a director of Nomura Europe Holdings, Nomura International and Nomura Capital Markets.

Lewis O'Donald will succeed Benson as chief risk officer of Nomura Holdings.
