Moody’s Names Jim Ahern Head of Structured Finance, Americas

Jim Ahern has been named Moody’s Investors Service's head of structured finance in the Americas, a  company spokesperson confirmed.

Ahear assumes his position June 16 and will replace Claire Robinson, who has retired from the ratings agency. He will report to Micheal West, Moody’s global head of structured finance.

The managing directors for the structured finance primary ratings group in the U.S., Canada and Latin America will report to Ahern, as will. Jonathan Polansky ,who oversees surveillance of structured finance in the Americas.

Ahern joins Moody’s after spending about 12 years at Paris-based Societe Generale, where he was global head of securitization. He has 25 years of securitization, asset-backed and structured credit experience. Before joining SG in 2002, Ahern ran the U.S. structured finance business at Commerzbank for seven years.

He started his career with UBS in the commodity trade finance group and has also worked in the structured finance groups at Mizuho Bank and UBS.
