Moelis & Co. Appoints Senior Advisor to Risk Advisory Unit

Landon Parsons joined Moelis & Co. as senior advisor in the firm’s risk advisory group.

Parsons, who will be based in New York, has close to 25 years of structured credit experience as an analyst, investor and advisor. He has been working at Moelis as a consultant since January 2010.

Previously, Parsons was a member of the mortgage special situations group at Goldman Sachs. He joined Goldman in 2008 after seven years at C-BASS, an affiliate of Mortgage Guaranty Insurance Corp. and Radian, where he was a managing director responsible for investing and managing structured products in non-agency and subprime RMBS, CMBS and ABS. He developed and managed the $10 billion C-BASS CBO program.

Parsons was also a managing director and co-head of structured finance at CGA Investment Management and a senior business development manager at Financial Guaranty Insurance Co.

Before this, he held positions at Credit Lyonnais, Capital Markets Assurance Corp. and Citicorp.

“Landon knows how to evaluate the most complicated structures and develop strategies that create value for our clients,” chief executive Ken Moelis said in a statement.

In other people news, Primus Guaranty promoted its chief financial officer to the role of CEO, the asset manager said Monday.

Richard Claiden, who served as CFO and chief operating officer, succeeds Thomas Jasper as CEO. Claiden also joins the company’s board of directors.
