MF Global Hires for Fixed Income

Broker-dealer in cash and derivatives MF Global Holdings has hired Gregg Schonhorn for its fixed- income group in New York effective Sept. 7.

Schonhorn, who is senior vice president of fixed income, will co-head the institutional sales force on credit desk. Most recently, he was managing director of institutional sales at Jeffries & Co. Before that, he worked in institutional sales at Mellon Bank and Gruntal & Co.

The firm also hired Michael Steinberg for its equities group in New York also effective Sept. 7. He is head of Asian equity sales. The new hire was previously at JPMorgan in New York where he was managing director, head of Asia Pacific sales. Steinberg has 28 years experience in Asian equities and was previously at Deutsche Bank, Nomura and Baring Securities.

These hires are part of a strategic initiative announced by Jon Corzine, CEO of MF Global, as part of the company’s plans to recruit 20 equity analysts across the world prior to the year's end, specifically focusing on Asia and Europe. This is as MF Global reshapes its research business.

MF Global offers execution, clearing, and settlement services in exchange-traded and over-the-counter markets. It delivers insight and access across a broad range of products and helps its diverse clientele meet trading and hedging needs via customized solutions, market expertise, and research.
