Lloyds Hires MF Global Vet to Head HY

Lloyds has hired a veteran of the high yield market and leveraged finance to head up its high yield capital markets group, according to reports.

Carlo Fontana joins from MF Global, where he was most recently the head of high yield and distressed trading. He has also held high yield and leveraged finance positions with Barclays and Merrill Lynch.

A spokeswoman for London-based Lloyds declined to comment.

Several European banking groups have expanded their high yield and leveraged loan groups recently. RBC Capital Markets added a new head of high yield bond sales and trading for its London office last month and hired three bankers for loan capital markets and European sponsor coverage at the end of July. In August, Barclays appointed Michael Moravec, head of the European leveraged syndicate, as cohead of EMEA leveraged finance.
