Hunton Andrews Kurth adds special counsel in tax practice

Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP (formerly Hunton & Williams and Andrews Kurth Kenyon) said last week that Robert A. Davis Jr. has joined the firm as special counsel in its tax and ERISA practice.

Davis will be working closely with the firm’s structured finance and securitization team.

He has advised financial institutions, fund managers and fiduciaries, and his transactional practice focuses on financial products with an emphasis on real estate and asset-backed securitizations.

He has significant experience advising on tax compliance issues for a variety of structures, including REMICs, collateralized loan obligations and tender option bond structures. His experience includes structuring transactions, drafting and reviewing transaction documents, and negotiating tax-related deal terms to achieve desired tax and business results.

Before joining Hunton Andrews Kurth, Davis was senior counsel at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft. Davis earned his undergraduate degree from Temple University, his law degree from Stanford Law School and his master of laws in taxation from New York University School of Law.
