Highland Taps Larsen for Business Development

Highland Capital Management, a CLO manager based in Dallas, Texas, said today that it had tapped Jess Larsen for a new role developing and managing relationships with institutional investors in Europe and the Middle East.

Larsen, who previously raised money from institutional investors for Bank of America Merrill Lynch, joins Highland as a managing director. He is based in London and reports to Clay Shumway, Highland’s head of business development.

“With continued global demand for hedge fund, private equity and fixed income investment strategies, we see tremendous opportunities for a dedicated effort targeting European and Middle Eastern institutions,” Shumway said in a press release.

Prior to Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Larsen was a partner at hedge funds VCM Fund Management and Range Capital.  He also worked at UBS Wealth Management and HSBC Private Bank.

Highland has approximately $19 billion in assets under management. As of June 30, it managed $13.8 billion in 19 collateralized loan obligations, according to Moody’s Investors Service.
