Freddie Mac General Counsel Leaves for SNR Denton

SNR Denton has hired Robert Bostrom as partner and co-head of the global financial institutions and funds sector, according to a press release from the law firm. The appointment is effective mid-August.

Bostrom joins SNR from Freddie Mac, were he was executive vice president, general counsel, and corporate secretary since coming to the GSE in 2006. He also held prior positions with National Westminster Bancorp, Winston & Strawn, and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

In recent months, SNR has also rapidly expanded the firms’ capital markets, financial services, and regulatory practices.

Previously, Bostrom was a counselor to Freddie Mac’s board of directors and senior management on various issues ranging from Congressional inquiries to the creation of a new corporate governance structure.

“Bob has worked at the highest levels of leadership in the banking sector, in private legal practice and inside a government-sponsored corporation during a period that gave rise to unprecedented business, legal and reputational challenges,” SNR Denton Global Chief Executive Elliot Portnoy said. “We are delighted that our clients worldwide will benefit immediately from his crisis and risk management experience and corporate governance talents.”
