Philadelphia-based law firm Cozen O’Connor has reorganized existing businesses to create a capital markets group, according to a release from the firm.
The group will counsel issuers, underwriters, investors and other market participants in connection with the issuance of fixed income and equity securities, including high yield debt, investment-grade securities, preferred equity, leveraged and hybrid capital and equity linked notes programs.
Albert Pinzon, an attorney in the group, said there are 10 to 15 associates and partners that deal directly with structured finance and capital market clients. However, there are 40 to 50 attorneys working as part of the group.
Pinzon said he expects the team to grow most in insurance linked securities (ILS) and in derivatives, currently two very active areas.
“Cozen has grown from a regional to a global firm, so this growth is natural,” Pinzon said. “And, it is important to note that we represent the actual, ultimate investors, whether private or corporate, not the hedge fund or investor without the person.”
