Real estate asset investor Cole Real Estate Investments hired Mitchell Sabshon as executive vice president and chief operating officer.

In his new position, Sabshon will focus on all of the firm's corporate finance activities. He will work closely with Cole president Marc Nemer on various initiatives relating to portfolio strategy, mergers and acquisitions, asset management, fund operations, and systems.

Sabshon has 25 years of experience in the commercial real estate and investment banking industries.  Before Cole, he was at Goldman Sachs in a number of key strategic roles, such as president and chief executive officer of Goldman Sachs Commercial Mortgage Capital, head of the insurance client development group, head of the strategic relationship management group’s insurance initiative, and a vice president of real estate investment banking.

The new hire was also a senior vice president of real estate investment banking at Lehman Brothers

Before his involvement in the investment banking field, Sabshon was a real estate structured finance attorney with international law firm Skadden Arps.

“We are delighted to have someone of Mitchell’s caliber and stature join our established team of top-tier real estate professionals,”  Nemer said. “His depth of relationships and real estate finance and investment expertise will be a strong complement to our highly seasoned team.  He will be instrumental to Cole as we continue to capitalize on market opportunities, work to increase operational efficiencies, and create value from our expanding portfolio of diversified, investment-grade real estate.”
