Cantor Commercial Real Estate said it appointed Faisal Ashraf, former head of capital markets at Credit Suisse, as managing director and head of special situations in the company’s real estate finance business team.
The addition of Ashraf to the team will help develop its alternative investment capabilities and support the team’s ability to evaluate alternative exit strategies and CLOs, according to a company press release.
Ashraf joins Cantor from Credit Suisse's real estate finance and securitization business. Before that, he was an associate at Moody's Investors Service.
Ashraf's responsibilities will include large loan banking, alternative investment acquisitions, and private placements / high yield distribution.
He will evaluate distressed debt opportunities and support the growth of CCRE's investment management business. Ashraf will work alongside Chris Milner, head of CCRE's investment management division and reports to Anthony Orso, Chief Executive Officer of CCRE.
Orso said that the team is currently looking at a few deals over $500 million with the aim of building a small team over the next few months as the business continues to grows," said
