Cap Markets Firm's New Owners to Concentrate on MBS

A group of investors have recently purchased a controlling interest in CRT Capital Group, Stamford, Conn., and say they plan to focus the firm on mortgage/asset-backed products and U.S. Treasuries going forward.

Ron Kripalani, the former chief executive office of Countrywide Capital Markets, and former Greenwich Capital co-CEOs Ben Carpenter and Jay Levine lead the investor group. Kripalani has been named the new CEO of CRT, which was formerly known as Credit Research and Trading LLC.

Carpenter has been named chairman of CRT and Levine will be a strategic advisor while continuing to serve in his position as CEO of Capmark Financial Group.
