BTIG Expands Fixed Income Group

BTIG continues to expand its fixed-income group, adding four to its sales and analyst teams, the firm said today.

John Walsh joins the firm’s high yield/distressed sales team from Bank of America, where he worked as a managing director and senior high yield trader for the healthcare, industrials, services and restaurant sectors. Before BofA, he was head of the Fleet Securities high yield trading desk.

Michael Kirsch also joins the high yield/distressed sales team. Kirsch previously worked for 10 years at Morgan Stanley in leveraged credit, and before that traded risk arbitrage for a hedge fund in Greenwich, Conn. and practiced law in New York.

Steve Cohen joins as an analyst on the high yield/distressed desk. Previously, Cohen was a managing director in high yield research at Citigroup, where he worked for 16 years.

Joe Labriola joins as an analyst on the high-grade desk. He previously worked at Barclays Capital, where he was in the principal strategies group with responsibilities in credit research, trading and risk management in the financial institutions, insurance and real estate sectors. Prior to Barclay’s, he was responsible for credit research covering financial institutions, insurance and real estate across the capital structure at Sigma Capital.

BTIG’s global fixed income group, launched in February of this year, has more than fifty members and focuses on the sales and trading of credit products, covering the full credit spectrum from investment grade to distressed debt.
