Broker dealer BTIG  expanded its U.S. fixed-income sales and trading platform by hiring Robert Hannigan as a director in high yield and distressed sales.

Before BTIG, Hannigan was a director at Knight Libertas. He started his career at DLJ in high yield trading, followed by trading positions at UBS and JPMorgan. In 1997, he joined CRT, where he became head of the distressed trading desk.

“We continue to see opportunity for BTIG in high yield, distressed and convertibles and we are aggressively looking to add talented professionals in those areas," said Robert Langer, head of high yield, distressed and convertibles at BTIG. "Bob’s experience and relationships in the industry further strengthen our presence in high yield/distressed and re-org equities.”

“This is an exciting time to be building a business on Wall Street. There is tremendous change going on in the industry, which is creating opportunities for growing firms like BTIG to hire someone with Bob’s background, experience and relationships,” said Steven Starker, BTIG co-founder. “We continue to leverage our success in equities to excel in other complementary areas – namely high yield, distressed and converts.”
