Manhattan Capital Markets (MCM) has hired Bill Berliner as an executive vice president and head of its advisory services unit. Berliner is the Principal of Berliner Consulting & Research.
“It made a great deal of sense for us to combine our efforts," MCM Managing Director Pete Harrison said. "We believe that together we can create a strong operation with excellent growth potential that can do exceptional work for our clients.”
Berliner formed Berliner Consulting in 2008. Prior to that he was with Countrywide Securities for twelve years, where he eventually became the head of the trade strategies group in the fixed-income research department.
He is also the co-author of Mortgage-Backed Securities: Products, Structuring, and Analytical Techniques, along with Frank Fabozzi and Anand Bhattacharya. Berliner has also been a columnist for ASR since October 2008.
Based in Calabasas, CA, MCM is an affiliate of Manhattan Bancorp, a publicly-traded holding company based in Manhattan Beach, CA. Aside from the advisory services unit, MCM has broker/dealer and warehouse lending units. A separate affiliate of MCM, Bank of Manhattan N.A., houses a retail mortgage banking operation.
