Bennett Jones Hires for its Securitization Practice

Bennett Jones hired two securitization professionals Michael Clifford and Peter Westcott, who were formerly at Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg.

Clifford specializes in asset securitizations and similar structured financings and derivative products. His clients have included sellers, underwriters and single and multi-vendor conduits, financial intermediaries and credit enhancers. Clifford has helped his clientele securitize a variety of asset classes, such as residential and commercial mortgages, credit card receivables, personal lines of credit, consumer loans, auto leases, auto loans, trade receivables, equipment leases and CLOs and CBOs. He represented BMO Nesbitt Burns when Master Credit Card Trust (MCCT), a special purpose vehicle sponsored by the Bank of Montreal, completed its IPO of three and five-year ABS notes worth $1.25 billion. He has also represented TD Securities and CIBC World Markets.

Meanwhile, aside from securitizations, Westcott's focus includes public and private securities offerings, loan financings and takeover bids. He was involved in the public offerings by Canadian Capital Auto Receivables Asset Trust of over $1.1 billion of receivables-backed notes and represented Access Roads Edmonton, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of ABN AMRO Bank, Canada Branch, as it entered into an agreement to design, finance, build and operate the a ring road in Edmonton
