Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ Names New Head of Structured Trade Finance

The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ (BTMU) has appointed Erich Michel as managing director and head of structured trade finance.

Michel leads a team in the commodities and structured trade finance group, within the investment banking division for the Americas (IBDA).

His responsibilities include growing BTMU’s trade finance business throughout the Americas, working closely with the bank’s regional offices. He reports to Yoshihiro Kubo, group head of the commodities and structured finance group in the investment banking division.

Michel previously worked at Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria for 12 years, most recently as the head of structured trade finance North America. His prior experience includes management positions in global trade finance at UBS and Swiss Bank Corp. He began his career in export finance at the Cantonal Bank of Berne, Switzerland.
