Gleacher Makes Senior MBS Hires

Gleacher & Co. Securities, a broker-dealer subsidiary of Gleacher & Co., hired seven professionals to the MBS and rates division in its New York City office. Glen Riis and Samir Shah have been hired as managing directors while Eric Baeri, Samuel Hernson, David Kaplan, Anthony Mun, and Jeffrey David Weaver have joined as directors.

Riis, who has 25 years of experience, was previously at Treesdale Partners as a CMBS portfolio manager. Similarly, Shah, who has more than 25 years of experience in MBS and ABS trading under his belt, joins Gleacher after serving as managing director in the structured products group of Tejas Securities Group.

Baeri comes to Gleacher from Newedge where he was a director in the rates trading sector.

Meanwhile, Hernson has over 20 years of experience in fixed-income sales. His most recent post was as director in asset management sales at Aladdin Capital.

New addition Kaplan joins the firm after focusing on structured finance products at Rochdale Capital Management.

Mun has had several positions in fixed-income and structured products over the past 12 years and joins Gleacher from Ally Securities where he was a director on the institutional sales and trading desk and the head of the mortgage sales desk.

Weaver, who has over 20 years of experience in fixed-income sales, also comes from Ally Securities where he was director of MBS sales.

“We are excited about these high quality additions to our team and the complementary strengths this group of professionals brings to our division,” said Perrin Arturi and Donald Ullmann, executive managing directors and co-heads of the firm’s MBS and rates division. “Samir and Glen have decades of experience at leading financial institutions, and together with their new colleagues, they will broaden our capabilities and diversify our strategies.”
