CEO Jamie Dimon cited elevated risks related to inflation and the war in Ukraine as the nation’s largest bank added $902 million in loan-loss reserves. “Does this represent conservatism in an uncertain macro environment or something more onerous?” one analyst asked.

The gain on sale from first quarter originations increased as the bank shifted more volume share to the higher-margin channel.

But it was the second-most successful year ever for IMB originations since the Mortgage Bankers Association began collecting this data in 2008.

The Silicon Valley fintech expects to make $1.5 billion in auto loans this year after implementing key elements needed to achieve scale, said CEO David Girouard. The expansion comes as the automotive market continues to boom.

"The quality of our new business is high. The pricing of that business does not reflect the capital requirements of our regulatory rule," CEO Hugh Frater said.
