Jeffrey D. Knowles

Jeffrey Knowles joined Venable's Washington, DC office as an equity partner in 1984. He manages Venable's Government Division and heads the firm's Advertising, Marketing and New Media Practice Group.� Mr. Knowles is widely recognized as one of the nation�s leading attorneys involving issues where advertising, marketing, payments and regulation intersect.His practice brings him into daily contact with law enforcement officials, regulators and policy makers at the national and state level.� He represents banks, payments processors and other financial services companies before the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Department of Justice, Federal Trade Commission, state attorneys general, and other federal and state regulatory agencies.� Mr. Knowles represented Four Oaks Bank in connection with the investigation by, and first settlement with, the Department of Justice under Operation Choke Point.Mr. Knowles also represents the Electronic Transactions Association, whose international members include financial institutions, transaction processors, independent sales organizations (ISOs) and equipment suppliers.� He holds a B.A. from Columbia University, and J.D. from New York Law School, where he currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
