Fran Coet, CPA/CFF, CVA, CFP®, CFFA

Frances J. Coet, CPA/CFF, CVA, CFP®, CFFA began her career as a tax and accounting professional forty years ago. Currently serving as a principal in the Westminster, Colorado CPA and financial planning firm of Coet 2 CPAs, PC, Coet assists over 1,200 individual, corporate, partnership and fiduciary entities each year to file their income tax returns. Tax planning for start up businesses, real estate transactions, and buying and selling of small businesses absorbs a great deal of Coet’s professional time and expertise.Coet holds multiple professional designations – Certified Public Accountant (CPA)/Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF), Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA), Certified Financial Planner Practitioner (CFP), and Certified Financial Forensic Analyst (CFFA). She approaches her clients with a holistic financial perspective – most of her client base is closely held businesses and their owners. Applying her training as an accounting professional with emphasis in tax, valuation and financial planning, Fran has been able to advise clients on how to keep more of what they make, and how to define their financial goals and attain them. Coet has qualified as an expert witness regarding business valuations, professional ethics and income tax issues in litigation environments, and is a trained instructor of tax law topics. In the year 2000, the Small Business Administration designated Fran as the 2000 SBA Accountant-Advocate for the State of Colorado and Region VIII. She graduated from Regis University, magna cum laude, with a major in business administration and a minor in economics. Coet is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Colorado Society of CPAs, the Financial Planning Association, and the National Association of Valuation Analysts. She was chair of the Colorado Society of CPA’s Federal Taxation Committee and served on that Society’s Board of Directors and as a Vice President of the Society. She is currently a board member of the Westminster Legacy Foundation, serves as an instructor for the Front Range Community College’s Small Business Development Center, and serves as a consultant to the Colorado Board of Accountancy.Before Coet and her husband John opened their own accounting practice in 1986, she worked for the Internal Revenue Service as a taxpayer service specialist and classroom instructor, and at a local CPA firm. A third generation tax preparer, she began her career with an income tax and bookkeeping firm in Iowa in 1971.
