DBRS Promotes Aufsatz To Lead European Structured Finance

DBRS, which recently expanded its scope of ratings coverage to include European corporates, has filled a new managing director role over its European structured finance team with a veteran in commercial mortgage structured finance.

Christian Aufsatz was named managing director and head its European structured finance operations; he had previously been in charge of the bond rating agency’s commercial mortgage backed securities ratings since late 2015.

Prior to that, Aufsatz was head of European CMBS research for Barclays, and a senior vice president of Moody’s Investors Service in London, where he had a role analyzing ratings for CMBS, non-performing roles and commercial real estate.

Aufsatz will report to Claire Mezzanotte, the New York-based group managing director over the agency’s global structured finance practice.

The addition of corporate ratings coverage for DBRS’ European operations allows the agency to serve the full spectrum of ratings across project finance, infrastructure and real estate. It adds to its existing roles in covering sovereigns, financial institutions and structured finance in Europe.

The structured finance team that Aufsatz will now coordinate will include asset-backs, commercial and residential mortgage-backed securities and covered bonds.
