BlackBox Logic Teams Up with RMBS Research Institutions

BlackBox Logic, a data aggregation service firm that provides a comprehensive database of loan-level collateral underlying non-agency RMBS, have teamed up with two RMBS research organizations, Columbia Business School and Five Bridges Advisors.

Both firms now use BlackBox Logic’s loan-level data aggregation service, called BBx DataTM, for their RMBS industry research and forecasting needs.

BBx Data covers the Jumbo-A, subprime and Alt-A mortgage markets and includes over7,200 RMBS, 21 million loans and nearly 600 million remittance records, dating back to 1999.

The BlackBox Logic management team is led by Larry Barnett, chief executive officer of the company; Bill Pugh, chief technology officer; Wyck Brown, director of marketing and new business development; Marty Schwartz, lead data modeler; and Dmitri Raskes, director of e-commerce solutions.

BlackBox Logic was founded in 2007; the team spent more than two years designing and testing a beta version of BBx Data with RMBS researchers, investors and broker/dealers. The production version of BBx Data launched in January 2010.

“We’re proud to partner with Columbia Business School and Five Bridges Advisors,” Barnett said. “Having some of the most respected mortgage market researchers using data from BlackBox Logic demonstrates the data quality, depth and responsiveness we provide. For us, it’s the ultimate vote of confidence.”
