As part of a broad reorganization of executives at SunTrust Banks, James M. Wells III stepped down as president on Friday
Taking his place will be William H. Rogers Jr., who will remain chairman and chief executive. Rogers was previously a corporate executive vice president in the company's wholesale, mortgage, wealth, and investment management businesses. In his new position, he will be responsible for SunTrust's geographic banking organization; the retail, commercial, mortgage, and wealth and investment management businesses; and corporate marketing.
Also part of the reorg, Chief Financial Officer Mark A. Chancy will become responsible for the corporate and investment banking business, as well as administrative operations.
