Marcus Giancaterino was recently named head of securitization for European markets at Citigroup Inc., the company announced. He will report to co-head of European Credit Markets Mark Watson. Giancaterino has been with the company for 13 years, having previously served as a member of the real estate finance and emerging markets groups.

Greenwich Capital recently hired Lee Apgar as senior vice president of ABS and RMBS sales, the company reported. Apgar, formerly a VP of fixed-income sales for Salomon, will work out of GCM's Boston office reporting to Jeffery DiModica, managing director and regional head.

His focus will continue to be on selling mortgage and asset-backed securities to valued relationships as well as adding many Boston-based accounts to his responsibilities. Apgar holds a B.A. in Economics from Dartmouth University.

The company also reported that it had hired Robert T. Hargraves, C.F.A, formerly of Goldman, as senior VP trading government securities and sovereign debt.

Michael Llodra, fomerly a managing director at Putnam Lovell, will start as a director at Salomon Smith Barney on Sept. 10. Llodra will be working in the CDO/derivatives group, and was hired for his experience in alternative assets. At Putnam, Llordra worked on asset classes such as mutual fund fees, and annuity fund fees.

Moody's Investors Service has hired Michael Xie as a senior analyst. Xie will focus on Moody's "Mortgage Metrics", which is expected to be the fundamental model used by Moody's to rate transactions backed by jumbo-A mortgages. Xie moves over from Fannie Mae, where he had been for the past year-and-a-half. Prior to that, Xie had been at Moody's and Citicorp.

The London office of Nomura Securities has welcomed Tariq Rafique as the new head of securitization and asset finance group. Rafique is reportedly said to have left his position as head of the securitization department at ABN Amro as a result of the high turnover rate at the bank and insufficient support from higher management levels.

TD Securities lost Casem Shafi, a vice president responsible for CDO origination, to Lehman Brothers this month. Shafi will report to Chris Kelly, a managing director running Lehman's CDO business.
