Freddie Mac said the average rate on 30-year fixed-rate mortgages jumped to 7.41% for the week ended June 3, up from 7.23% the previous week.
In the 15-year sector, fixed-rate mortgages increased to 7.04% from 6.84% the week before. A year ago, the rate was 6.70%.
The rate for one-year Treasury-indexed adjustable-rate mortgages averaged 6.10%, decreasing slightly from the previous week's average of 6.11%. A year ago, this rate was 5.68%.
