Moody's builds up its Tokyo operations

Moody's Investors Service announced the appointments of Shunsuke Ishihara and Koji Kumamaru as team managing directors in its Tokyo-based structured finance group.

According to the Moody's release, Ishihara will head the ABS, RMBS, ABCP and monitoring teams while Kumamaru will head the CMBS team. Both will report to Kei Kitayama, representative director for Moody's Japan K.K.

Ishihara joined the rating agency as a vice president and senior analyst in September 2000. Before Moody's, he worked for Sumitomo Bank for 10  years. Kumamaru joined Moody's as an assistant vice president and analyst in November 1999. Prior to joining Moody's , he worked for Daiichi Kangyo Bank for nine years and was mainly involved in domestic and international securitization.

"These promotions reflect the increasing importance of the Japanse SF market to Moody's desire to increase its management level resource in the region," said the rating agency in a release.
