Milbank hires former Dechert partner Solis to boost global CLO practice

Structured finance attorney Sean Solis has joined the structured finance and securitization practice at Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy as a partner on the global collateralized loan obligation team.

Solis arrives at Milbank from another global firm, Dechert, where he was a partner in the global finance practice with a focus on advising CLO arrangers and managers since 2014, particularly in maneuvering through U.S. and European CLO risk-retention regulations.

“Sean will be a tremendous asset to our clients and build upon the success of our global CLO practice,” Milbank Chairman Scott A. Edelman said in a news release. Edelman added the firm has “taken steps globally to further strengthen its finance capabilities” through new executive hires since the start of the year – including two London-office hires in capital markets and financial restructuring.

“In a relatively short period of time, Sean has become one of the leading lawyers representing CLO managers in the market,” said Jay Grushkin, head of Milbank’s global CLO practice.

“Milbank’s deeply embedded relationships with leading financial institutions and asset management firms and their global network spanning major financial markets will provide a robust platform for serving clients and growing my practice,” Solis said.
