Deutsche Bank Eyes Return to Warehouse

Deutsche Bank is contemplating re-entering the warehouse space, according to industry advisors, the latest new entrant in a business that two years ago had just a handful of players.

A press time, the German-based bank had not returned multiple telephone calls about the matter.

Since January several regional and community banks have entered the warehouse lending arena, but have only extended credit in their bank footprint. DB's plans are said to be more national in scope.

Chris George, who runs CMG Mortgage of San Ramon, Calif., said he has not heard the DB name among warehouse lenders contacting him, but noted that, "I'm getting a lot of calls from community banks that want to lend me money."

CMG is one of the largest privately held nondepository lenders in California.
