Clifford Chance is sending Partner Debashis Dey, who was previously U.K.-based and who is part of the law firm's international securitization group, to launch a dedicated capital markets practice in the Gulf region.
Dey will relocate to the Dubai office on May 1. The new practice would enhance the firm's capabilities in the area, Dey said. The capital markets practice will focus on a combination of traditional and structured capital markets areas, including securitization and Islamic capital market activity.
Several associates from the firm's London practice will work alongside Dey and will be relocating to Dubai. Clifford Chance was established in the Middle East in 1975. With a regional practice coordinated from Dubai, the office currently consists of four partners and 33 lawyers.
