Sally L. Venverloh

President

Sally L. Venverloh is President of NGE Philanthropic Advisors, a division of Chicago-based law firm Neal, Gerber & Eisenberg LLP. Sally is of counsel to Neal Gerber Eisenberg and a member of the firm’s Private Wealth Services and Associations & Not-for-Profit Organizations Practice Groups. Sally was admitted to the Illinois bar in 1996 and spent ten years as a practicing attorney in the areas of income tax and estate planning law, with a particular emphasis on the law of tax-exempt organizations. As President of NGE Philanthropic Advisors, Sally provides guidance to clients regarding all phases of the charitable giving process including an in-depth discussion of their philanthropic goals, advice about which charitable giving vehicle is best suited to their needs and objectives, formation of tax-exempt nonprofit corporations or trusts, grant-making, gift agreements, tax and nonprofit law compliance, inter-generational family philanthropy and dissolution or merger of tax-exempt organizations. Sally’s ultimate goal is to make philanthropy more effective, both for the donor and the charitable organization. Before joining NGE Philanthropic Advisors, Sally served as the director of gift planning of The Chicago Community Trust and acting assistant general counsel of The Art Institute of Chicago. Sally often speaks on issues relating to philanthropy, having made presentations to organizations including the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education, Chicago Bar Association, Lake County Estate Planning Council, Chicago Foundation for Women, Brown Brothers Harriman’s Women’s Financial Forum and the Fidelity Charitable Gift Fund. Sally received her J.D., cum laude, from St. Louis University School of Law in 1995 and her LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law in 1996.
