John Harrell

John Harrell is vice president of mortgage product management at USAA Bank where he focuses on delivering highly-competitive mortgage products for USAA members. John joined USAA Bank in April 2013 as the vice president of real estate fulfillment, providing operational leadership for the ongoing transformation of the real estate lending business. He transitioned to product management in November 2014 with the goal of bringing a data-driven approach to the product strategy with the intent of providing highly-competitive products that will serve more members’ home buying needs. John brings more than 17 years of consumer finance experience�across multiple disciplines and asset classes to his role at USAA Bank. Prior to joining USAA Bank, John spent 12 years at Capital One where he successfully led teams in business process improvement, operational fulfillment, and product line management, with�rotations�in auto finance, retail bank, and home lending. He also spent two years with CitiMortgage where he served in a risk role responsible for collections and default strategy during the height of the housing crisis.�A USAA member since 1990, John is a veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served as a submarine warfare officer for seven years. He attended the University of Texas at Austin on NROTC scholarship where he earned a bachelor's degree in business administration. He also holds a master’s in business administration from San Diego State University.
